Bioinformatics Programmer I 239438JC

This entry-level position requires a formally trained programmer with interest and some familiarity with bioinformatics and molecular biology. The Next-Generation Sequencing Informatics (NGSI) group
maintains several bioinformatics software packages that require development and user support. Under the direction of a senior manager, a qualified candidate will interact with staff scientists to extend software functionality and will work with software engineers to maintain and develop a unified NGSI code-base.

This position coordinates the pre- and post-award application process for federal, state and private funding opportunities, including compilation of proposal components, QC of data and data entry, and compliance with proposal and BCM guidelines. Provides support for senior faculty members within the Center, including publications, appointments and travel arrangements and reimbursements. Supports the HGSC administrative group as needed, including coordination of group functions, phone coverage, SAP entries.

Includes online strategy, web content management using a web content management system (Drupal) and site authoring tool (Dreamweaver), online marketing and communication, customer service, graphic design, user experience (analysis/design), information/data architecture, website analytics, accessibility, and legal issues (for example, copyright, DRM [digital rights management], trademark, and privacy).
