The BCM-HGSC is sequencing genomes from representative species from most of the major branches of the phylogeny: hominoids (Homo, Pongo, Nomascus), Old World monkeys (Papio, Macaca, Cercocebus), New World monkeys (Callithrix) and lemurs (Microcebus).
Current sequencing efforts all include diversity panels investigating within-species variation or closely related species or subspecies. For example, the diversity panel for the white-cheeked gibbon (Nomascus) will include Hylobates, Symphalangus, and Bunopithecus.
